Making the Decision

Making the Decision

It happens to the best of us. When internship season is shining in its prime, our inboxes fill with welcoming offers to join various teams at outstanding companies. How flattering! While a swarm of offers may be complementary, it also leads to the daunting task of making a hard decision. But, with so many amazing offers, how can you possibly make a decision? No need to fret – we have some advice.

An indicator of a well-developed and beneficial internship program is the amount of specifics provided about the position. Don’t be blindsided by a company name. Sometimes the smaller companies will provide a more fruitful experience.

If you’re left wondering about the specifics of the position, email the internship coordinator asking for more information. Knowing the specifics will make it much easier to differentiate which position will benefit your career aspirations in the long run.

If you have all of the details of each position and are still frazzled, try making a side-by-side list of each company and their specifics. This visual representation of what each position has to offer may make it much easier to literally see which position is right for you at this time.

Still indecisive? Ask for more time to decide. While it’s acceptable to prolong your decision, don’t be greedy. Give a 24 or 48 hour time frame in which you will get back to them. If you decline, they deserve the opportunity to reach out to their second choice in a timely fashion.

Good luck! We know you’ll make the right decision.
